Indulge in the luscious delight of a vegan cherry chocolate chip smoothie! This creamy concoction is a heavenly treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth and leave you craving for more. Prepare to be amazed by the delightful combination of sweet and tart cherries, rich chocolate, and the refreshing smoothness of coconut milk. The best part? It’s incredibly easy to make and requires just a handful of ingredients.

Cherry Chocolate Chip Smoothie Ingredients

To create this delectable smoothie, you’ll need a few key ingredients: frozen cherries, frozen bananas, cacao nibs (or vegan chocolate chips), coconut cream and water (or plant-based milk), and a blender. If you prefer a sweeter taste, feel free to add your favorite liquid sweetener like agave nectar or maple syrup. However, the natural sweetness of the bananas and cherries makes additional sweeteners optional.

Frozen cherries will give your smoothie a chilled and refreshing texture. You can buy them already frozen (I like Wyman’s brand), or you could pick up some fresh cherries in season and freeze. If you go with fresh, remember to remove the pits before freezing to ensure a smooth blending process. Be sure to freeze your bananas beforehand as well. Smoothies work best with ripe bananas. Peel and cut into chunks before freezing for easiest results.

Canned coconut cream or milk is a fantastic choice lusciously rich and velvety smoothie. I used the cream from a can of coconut milk then added a bit of water for blending. If you don’t have coconut milk/cream, you could instead opt for another plant-based milk—such as almond milk, oat milk, soy milk—and that’ll work just fine as well.

Make It!

Once you have all of your ingredients gathered, it’s time to blend. Add the frozen cherries and bananas, cacao nibs, coconut cream, and water to your blender. Blend until you achieve a smooth consistency. There will likely be some bits of cacao seeds, which is fine, and IMO makes the smoothie more enjoyable. If you desire a thinner consistency, gradually add more water or plant-based milk until you reach your desired texture.

Customization and Toppings

Now comes the fun part—customization! While the cherry chocolate chip smoothie is already divine on its own, you can elevate its flavors with additional toppings and mix-ins.

You could top this smoothie with fresh cherries, more cacao nibs, coconut flakes, or a dusting of cocoa powder.

Consider incorporating frozen or fresh strawberries, blueberries, or mixed berries for a burst of fruity goodness.

For the chocolate lovers out there, feel free add in some cocoa powder. (LBH, you cannot go wrong with more chocolate.)

If you’re feeling adventurous, try adding coconut flakes, granola, or a dollop of creamy peanut butter for extra texture and decadence. Don’t be afraid to experiment and unleash your creativity—it’s your smoothie, after all!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup frozen cherries I like Wyman's brand
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 3 tbsp cacao nibs or vegan chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup coconut cream*
  • 1 cup water or plant-based milk

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth / cacao nibs have mostly broken down.
  • Serve and enjoy! Makes 2 glasses.

Notes

*You can buy either full-fat coconut cream or canned coconut milk and scoop out the cream. Depending on the brand, a can of coconut milk is usually about 1/2–2/3 cream and the rest is coconut water.
**You may replace coconut cream and water with plant-based milk of choice if you wish. Start with 1 cup of milk and adjust per desired smoothie thickness.
